Step Forward

Today’s quote is from Discourses and Selected Writings by Epictetus.

Step forward and make use of what you’ve learned.  It isn’t more logic chopping that is needed-our Stoic texts are full of that.  What we need now are people to apply their learning and bear witness to their learning in their actions.  Please, be the one to take on this character, I am tired in my teaching of invoking examples from the past, I want to be able to hold up an example from my own time.

Stop Procrastinating

This is a common issue that any kind of content creator faces.  The collection of knowledge is the fun part, but it can also become a term called, “The Art of Productive Procrastination”.  When we face the difficult task of creating something we excuse ourselves from the hard work to collect more information, but we are just procrastinating from the real work in front of us.  To elaborate on Epictetus’ quote, sit down on that chair, power through the difficult work, and stop making excuses.  This can also apply to anyone who uses learning to improve their life, at some point you must implement all the knowledge you gained or its just useless information taking up space.
